MINDFULNESS-BASED INTERVENTIONS
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) ~ Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
The 8 week MBSR /MBCT programs are designed to introduce meditation and body awareness as a way of reducing stress, developing greater balance in your life and, in the case of MBCT, to address the symptoms of burnout and depression specifically. The programs includes guided instruction in meditation, mindful stretching, group dialogue and homework; written materials and guided audio meditations are also included in the cost of the program.
I have taught MBSR/MBCT courses since 2006. These programs are for adult women and men of all ages and physical ability, including people with problems with chronic pain, depression and anxiety. Participants have included people from all walks of life, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Participants should be prepared to commit to a minimum twenty minutes to half an hour of daily meditation practice. Yes, that’s a lot of homework but you are worth it. For a good introduction to the programs, I recommend the following books: for MBSR read Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Full Catastrophe Living; for MBCT read Mark Williams and Danny Penman's Mindfulness: An Eight-Week Plan to Find Peace in a Frantic World ~ both are available at most book sellers.

DO I NEED TO BRING EQUIPMENT WITH ME?
Yoga mats, chairs, and meditation cushions are available for use, or you can bring your own. Wear comfortable clothing you can breathe and stretch in. Feel free to bring an extra sweater, socks, shawl, blanket, your own yoga gear, and water bottle. Treat yourself kindly.
